Around early 2017 my friends and I travelled to Japan; Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Himeji, Musashi Village (Mimasaka, Okayama), Hiroshima, Miyajima, Kokura, Kitakyushu, Ganryū-Jima, Fukuoka, and Kumamoto.
As we studied Japanese sword-fighting (iaido 居合道 and kenjutsu 剣術), we were also invited to have a tea ceremony with the mayor of Kitakyushu, and participated in a kenjutsu news segment featured on national/international NHK news and local Fukuoka broadcaster RKB, on the island of Ganryū-Jima - the sight of a legendary battle between Sasaki Kojirō and Miyamoto Musashi (the founder of our branch of kenjutsu school).
